1 February 2001, 09:19 Japan stocks open lower, Fed's decision discounted
Tokyo--Feb. 1--Tokyo shares opened lower, dragged down by technology
issues after the Nasdaq's decline overnight and following an expected
50-basis-point cut by the Federal Reserve. At 0916 JT, The Nikkei 225
Stock Average was 113.27 points, or 0.8% lower at 13,730.28, the Nikkei
225 Mar futures contract was down 120 at 13,740 on the Osaka Securities
Exchange and the Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX) fell 0.9%, or 11.97
points to 1,288.26.
