The ISI U.S. company survey index rose to 49.4. in the week ended January 5, the first increase in the index since November 22; but, weakness in four week-moving average points indicates the economy is still slowing, International Strategy & Investments said in its weekly company survey. The four week-moving average of ISI's company index fell to 46.7 from 46.8, making it the weakest reading since January 1997.
