By Mai Iida, BridgeNews Tokyo--Jan. 9--The Nikkei 225 Stock Average declined 1.9% Tuesday as weakness in U.S. equities and concerns over slowing earnings growth at U.S. firms undermined sentiment, traders said. But the index managed to close well above the day's low, ending 257.10 points lower at 13,610.51.
