5 January 2001, 14:14  Euro zone Nov PPI up 0.4 pct vs Oct, up 6.5 pct yr-on-y

BRUSSELS (AFX) - The euro zone's industrial producer prices (PPI) rose by 0.4 pct in November against a month earlier, giving a 6.5 pct year-on-year rise, said the EU's Eurostat statistical office. In the EU 15, PPI were up 0.5 pct from October, giving a 5.7 pct annual rise, Eurostat said. In the euro zone, industrial intermediate goods prices were up 0.5 pct from a month earlier, investment goods up 0.1, consumer durable goods unchanged and non-durable consumer goods up 0.2, it said. On an annual basis, the rise in the prices of the euro zone's industrial intermediate goods were 13.1 pct, investment goods up 0.6, consumer durable goods up 1.5 and non-durable consumer goods up 2.4, it said. In the EU 15, November's monthly rise for intermediate goods were 0.8 pct, investment goods and consumer durable goods both unchanged, and non-durable consumer goods up 0.2, it said. On an annual basis, intermediate goods prices were up 12.3 pct in the EU 15, investment goods up 0.2, durable consumer goods up 1.3, and non-durable consumer goods up 2.2, it said. Sharpest monthly rises in producer prices were in the UK up 1.0 pct, Germany up 0.9 pct and Portugal up 0.7 pct. There were slight monthly declined in Luxembourg's PPI down 0.3 pct, Ireland's down 0.2 pct, tracked by France and Spain, both down 0.1 pct. On an annual basis, Portugal posted the sharpest PPI rise up 16.7 pct, followed by the Netherland's 10.6 pct and Finland's 8.2 pct.
