By Masataka Nakamura, BridgeNews Tokyo--Jan. 5--The U.S. dollar hit a fresh 17-month high of 116.90 against the yen while the euro hit a fresh 11-month high of 111.77 against the Japanese currency in active trading. Dealers remained bullish for the dollar/yen and the euro/yen, on the ground that Japan's fundamental weakness would continue to dispatch capital outflow out of the yen. The Federal Reserve's decision to slash the discount rate by 0.25% failed to have a significant impact on the foreign xchange market.
