5 January 2001, 09:58  Japan's Kuroda says yen weakening doesn't reflect waning confidence

Tokyo--Jan. 5--Japan's Vice Finance Minister for International Affairs Haruhiko Kuroda declined to express concern over the strengthening of the dollar against the yen, saying that the current yen weakness doesn't indicate that confidence in Japan's economic well-being is slipping internationally. Furthermore, Kuroda gave a thumbs-up to the euro's rebound against the dollar and the yen.
