PARIS (MktNews) - The number of French jobseekers fell by 0.5% or 11,300 in December, leaving the unemployment rate unchanged at 9.2%, France-Inter radio reported Wednesday. The monthly decline, less than most analysts had expected, represents a slowdown after -40,000 in November and -54,700 in October. For all of last year, the number of jobseekers fell by around 420,000, thanks to net job creations of 519,000, the radio said. The Labor Ministry is scheduled to release official figures at 7:45 GMT today.
