London--Jan. 3--The euro has continued to strengthen against both the dollar and the yen with ongoing concerns about both U.S. and Japanese economic health. The euro reached a six-month high of $0.9573 and a new 10-month peak of 109.48 yen in the European morning. Data released Tuesday showed that U.S. manufacturing activity in December shrank to its lowest level for nearly a decade.
