29 January 2001, 12:39 Nasdaq ends up after earlier fall, Dow closes lower
New York--Jan. 26--The Nasdaq recorded small gains as investors
shrugged off some soft profit outlooks and an early fall. The broader
market slipped, however, in cautious trading ahead of the Federal Reserve
policy meeting. The Nasdaq closed up 26.98, or 0.98%, to 2781.26 and the
Dow was down 69.54, or 0.65%, to 10,659.98. The S&P 500 was down 2.57, or
0.19%, to 1354.94.
