24 January 2001, 09:26 U.S. share prices rose again Tuesday
looking past a disappointment from key semiconductor firm Texas
Instruments and looking forward to stronger economic growth later in the
year. The Nasdaq composite was up 82.48, or 3%, at 2840.39, while the
S&P 500 gained 17.50, or 1.3 percent, to 1360.40. Averages ended the
session near their best levels in heavy volumes. The Nasdaq is up 18.5
percent since the Federal Reserve's surprise rate cut of Jan. 3 while
the S&P 500 is up 5 percent. The DJIA ended up 71.57 to 10,649.81.
