23 January 2001, 10:44  Japanese Economic Minister Nukaga resigns over alleged KSD scandal

Tokyo--Jan. 23--Fukushiro Nukaga, Japan's State Minister for Economic and Fiscal Policy tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda said. Former Economic Planning Agency chief Taro Aso will replace Nukaga, Fukuda confirmed. Nukaga, 57, resigned to take responsibility after he was linked to the scandal-tainted mutual aid foundation KSD. Nukaga has admitted his secretary received funds from the company but said the money was returned once he found out about it.
