London--Jan. 17--Europe's major markets ended higher after mostly strong earnings results reported in the United States prompted a lift on both the Nasdaq and Dow Jones Industrial Average. The U.K.'s FTSE-100 index was up 114 points at 6197.4, Germany's Xetra DAX-30 was up 142 points at 6645 and France's CAC-40 was up 122 points at 5884.
