Frankfurt--Jan. 16--German wholesale prices were down 0.3% in
December, as prices for cows and oil products fell on the month, and were
up 5.1% on the year, the Federal Statistics Office in Wiesbaden said
Tuesday. In the year 2000, wholesale prices were on average 5.5% higher
than the previous year.-
Annual increases in wholesale prices were under heavy influence from high
oil prices, as the index excluding oil products was on average 2.5% higher
in 2000 from 1999.-

Excluding oil products, wholesale prices in December were up 0.5% from
November, and up 3.5% on the year.
