MADRID (AFX) - The current account deficit widened to 1.929 bln eur in October from 1.190 bln a year earlier, the Bank of Spain said. It said the trade deficit widened to 3.282 bln eur from 2.469 bln, while transfers swung to a deficit of 85.3 mln from a 116.0 mln surplus.
In the ten months to Oct 31, the current account deficit widened to 14.734 bln eur from 6.627 bln a year earlier, while the trade deficit widened to 29.703 bln eur from 21.864 bln.
The Bank of Spain said the capital account posted a surplus of 197.7 mln eur in October, down from 776.8 mln a year earlier, while in the ten-month period the surplus declined to 4.370 bln eur from 4.716 bln.
It said foreign direct investment in Spain surged to 3.738 bln eur in October from 693.3 mln a year earlier, while in the ten-month period this increased to 22.95 bln eur from 7.94 bln.
